Start with an episode link
- In Spotify, share a podcast episode and choose Save to Margin, or copy its link and paste it into Margin.
- Check the episode and enter the timestamp you want to save.
- Allow microphone and speech recognition access when prompted.
- Hold the microphone button in Margin to record; release to save.
Imported links do not require Spotify sign-in. They use your selected timestamp; pause and resume playback in Spotify yourself. Private notes do not require a Margin account.
Spotify connection and playback
Optional live Spotify access is currently limited to invited accounts. Signing in successfully does not guarantee playback API access. If access is unavailable, use episode-link import. Check Spotify’s Screen Time allowance and start a podcast in Spotify before testing a live connection.
If playback does not resume, tap Play in Spotify. Do not keep retrying an access or rate-limit error; wait for the message to clear or use an imported link.
Recording or transcription trouble
Check Margin’s microphone and speech recognition permissions in iOS Settings. On-device speech recognition depends on the language and recognition resources available on your device. If transcription fails, check whether the recording saved in your library before recording again.
Clubs
Sign in to Margin with Apple to create or join a club. You can use an imported episode without Spotify sign-in. Shared text and listening progress are visible to club members; your private audio recordings are not uploaded as club notes.
For concerns about shared content or another member, email support with the club name and a description. In-app reporting and blocking are still being prepared for public release.
Delete notes or your account
Delete private notes from the app’s library. To delete your Margin account, open Settings in Margin and choose Delete Account. This removes your account, sessions, memberships, shared notes and playback records from Margin’s active backend. Private notes on your device remain until you delete them separately.
After account deletion, follow the app’s instructions to remove Margin’s Sign in with Apple connection in Apple account settings. You can disconnect Spotify separately in Margin settings. If you cannot access the app, contact support for help with a deletion request.
Send a useful bug report
Include your app version/build, device model, iOS version, what you expected, what happened, and whether you used an imported link or live Spotify access. Please do not send passwords, access tokens or private recordings. TestFlight users can also choose Send Beta Feedback in TestFlight.
